Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time. 
An Aug. 11 Science News story on a survey of dark energy quoted David Schlegel.

Numerous news outlets, including the San Francisco Chronicle, covered the conclusion of the Grizzly fire, noting its proximity to the Lab.

An Aug. 9 story on drought and ecosystems quoted Trevor Keenan.

An Aug. 9 KPCC-FM/Southern California Public Radio story on the impact of cool roofs quoted Ronnen Levinson.

An Aug. 8 Greenwire story highlighted a new report on the state of the wind energy industry, a report led by Ryan Wiser and Mark Bolinger. The report was covered widely including by American Wind Energy, North American Wind Power, PowerMag, Daily Energy Insider and Think Progress, with most based on a Lab news release.

The August issue of Consumer Reports magazine quoted Mark Mendell in a story on the health impacts of air-conditioners.

An Aug. 8 Physics Today story profiled Ernest Lawrence on the occasion of his birth.

An Aug. 8 story featured work led by Daniel Kasen and Francois Foucart, who used NERSC to understand what happens when a black hole collides with a neutron star. Daily Galaxy also covered their work based on a Lab news release.

An Aug. 7 NSF Science Nation story looked at how audio restoration technology by Carl Haber and Earl Cornell is helping to restore rare audio recordings.

An Aug. 7 opinion piece in The Hill cited the Joint Genome Institute and Joint BioEnergy Institute as leaders in biotechnology.
