Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A Dec. 30 Fox News story looked at 3D printing used by Ron Zuckermann to create his “peppytides.” 3DPrint and Yahoo News also ran stories.

A Dec. 27 Time Magazine story on “5 Trends That Changed the Face of Real Estate” noted research by Berkeley Lab showing home owners can improve resale value with PV installations.

A Dec. 25 Seattle Times story on China’s coal-to-gas plants quoted David Fridley. The story also appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald.

A Dec. 23 Popular Mechanics story noted the lab’s involvement in a vehicle-to-grid project at the Los Angeles Air Force Base.

A Dec. 23 IEEE Spectrum story on the world’s largest PV power plant quoted Mark Bolinger.

A Dec. 21 CleanTechnica story on lithium ion batteries noted work led by Richard Saykally.

Scientific American’s Best Physics Papers of 2014 list included one by Wim Leemans on the lab’s compact accelerator, BELLA (#9 on list). BELLA also made the APS Top Ten Physics News Stories of 2014, as did the lab-involved neutrino project, IceCube.
