A May 23 R&D magazine story highlighted work led by the Lab’s Eva Nogales which shows the first explanation of Taxol’s success as a cancer chemotherapy agent. Health Canal and others also covered her work.

A May 22 Wall Street Journal story on PV solar systems increasing the value of homes cited work led by the Lab’s Ben Hoen.

A May 21 Space.com story featured work co-led by the Lab’s Peter Nugent into new findings of a supernova. NBC News.com, UPI, Huffington Post, Fox News and many others also covered the findings.
A May 21 KTVU-TV Channel 2 story on the dangers of lithium-ion batteries included an interview with the Lab’s Elton Cairns.

A May 20 UCLA Daily Bruin story looked at recent efforts towards the creation of a Richmond Bay Campus. The Richmond Standard ran a similar story.

A May 20 R&D magazine story featured work led by the Lab’s Regina Lamendella on microbes following the Deepwater Horizon spill.

A May 20 Technology Review story on new, smart, thermostats quoted the Lab’s Mary Ann Piette.

A May 20 Archaeology Magazine story looked at a discovery led by the Advanced Light Source’s Catherine Dejoie of a rare rust found in Chinese pottery. The Economic Times and the Business Standard also covered her work.

A May 19 SmartPlanet.com story highlighted the Lab’s new FLEXLAB facility and quoted Steve Selkowitz and Cindy Regnier.

A May 16 Live Science story looked at a discovery led by the Advanced Light Source’s Catherine Dejoie of a rare rust found in Chinese pottery. R&D magazine also ran a story.

A May 15 Daily Cal story noted a presentation on the Richmond Bay Campus at the UC Regents meeting this week.           

A May 14 EarthSky.org story looked at first results from Kelp Watch, an effort co-led by the Lab’s Kai Vetter to track radiation from Fukushima. The Daily Cal and the International Business Times also ran stories on the effort.

A May 13 Nature story looked at the debate over the prehistoric impact theory and quoted the Lab’s Richard Firestone. Science magazine ran a similar story.

A May 12 R&D magazine story featured research into molecular motors by the Lab’s Carlos Bustamante.

A May 11 story in The Motley Fool looked at a new fuel cell catalyst being developed by the Lab.

A May 9 Scientific Computing story on computing’s role in weather simulations for the recent National Climate Assessment report quoted the Lab’s Michael Wehner, a co-author on the report.

A May 9 Contra Costa Times story covered a meeting on the proposed Richmond Bay Campus. KTVU-TV Channel 2 and Richmond Confidential also covered the meeting.
 
A May 9 InsideHPC interview with the Lab’s Sudip Dosanjh and Katie Antypas focused on the Lab’s next-generation computer.

A May 8 R&D.com story featured work on a new broadband imaging technique by the Lab’s Michael Martin and Hans Bechtel. AZnano also ran the story.

A May 7 KQED-FM story looked at the first results of Kelp Watch, a project co-led by the Lab’s Kai Vetter. The results were widely covered, including by the San Jose Mercury News, KRON-TV, KCBS-AM, KGO-AM, Oregon Public Broadcasting, LA Weekly, Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Southern California Public Radio, the Associated Press and others.

A May 7 story in The Guardian on the energy efficiency of buildings quoted the Lab’s Steve Selkowitz and Alan Meier.

A May 7 Photonics story featured graphene alternative research led by the Lab’s Xiang Zhang.

A May 6 San Francisco Business Times story on the release of the National Climate Assessment noted Michael Wehner’s role as a coauthor. The Daily Cal also ran a story while KRON-TV Channel 4 interviewed Wehner for a story (in 2 parts, below).

A May 6 Forbes story on computer algorithms to improve chip efficiencies quoted the Lab’s Aydin Buluc citing his work with the Lab’s Energy-efficient Data and Graph Algorithms Research project.

A May 6 FedTech magazine story on improving inefficient data centers quoted the Lab’s Bill Tschudi.

The Lab’s recent Science at the Theater event held in Richmond was covered by the Contra Costa Times.

A May 1 Talking New Media story noted former Lab employee Lila Tretikov will head the Wikimedia Foundation. The New York Times also profiled her.
