Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of April 27, 2014

Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A May 2 R&D magazine story looked at work led by the Lab’s Xiang Zhang towards new photonic and nanoelectronic applications.

A May 1 RedOrbit story on gravitational lensing quoted the Lab’s Saul Perlmutter and Jakob Nordin. Several other outlets also covered their work.

A May 1 Talking New Media story noted former Lab employee Lila Tretikov will head the Wikimedia Foundation. The New York Times also profiled her.

A May 1 Northwest Public Radio story included research on walking and running by the Lab’s Paul Williams.

An April 29 HPC Wire story covered an agreement by NERSC to purchase a next-generation computing system and quoted the Lab’s Sudip Dosanjh and Katie Antypas. Scientific Computing, MarketWatch and others also covered the announcement.

An April 29 R&D story highlighted work on manganites led by the Lab’s Robert Schoenlein, Shuyun Zhou and Yi-De Chuang.

The April 29 issue of the Daily Cal included an obituary on former Lab director Andy Sessler.

An April 29 story in The Hindu highlighted work by the Lab’s Anand Gopal, Samveg Saxena and Amol Phadke showing benefits of electric cars in India and China

An April 28 Pacific Standard story on hedge funds and mathematics quoted the Lab’s David Bailey.
