Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of Jan. 5, 2014


Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A Jan. 10 Hartford Business Journal story covered a new report co-led by the Lab’s Ben Hoen showing no negative effects from living near wind turbines in Massachusetts. South Coast Today and the Hartford Courant also covered the report.

A Jan. 9 BBC News story covered the latest results by the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey and quoted the Lab’s David Schlegel. The story was widely covered including by the Huffington Post, the London Independent, Salt Lake Tribune, Space, Astronomy, Times of India and many others.

A Jan. 7 Mother Nature News story on the increased value of homes with installed solar panels quoted Ben Hoen and his recent research in the area.

The January issue of Prevention magazine includes a story on the benefits of exercise in reducing breast cancer, citing work by the Lab’s Paul Williams.

A Jan. 6 Science Today podcast focused on audio restoration work by the Lab’s Carl Haber.

A recent SNL.com story highlighted Lab indoor air quality research and quoted the Lab’s Brett Singer. Singer was also part of a Building Performance podcast on related work.
