Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of Nov. 24, 2013


Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

The latest issue of Outlook Business magazine includes a story on the creation of the Cellscope with the Lab’s Daniel Fletcher.

A Dec. 1 GizMag story highlighted work on a lithium-sulfur battery by the Lab’s Elton Cairns. Green Car Reports and Autos also covered his research.

A Nov. 26 U.S. News and World Report story covered a new report showing greater-than-expected methane in the atmosphere. The story quoted study co-author Marc Fischer, who was also cited in stories on KQED-FM, the Denver Post, EE News, Prevention Magazine, Smithsonian, Live Science and many others.

A Nov. 26 Inside HPC story included an interview with the Lab’s Saul Perlmutter on the role of high performance computing in his research.

A Nov. 26 Rapid City Journal, South Dakota, story included a quote from the Lab’s Rod Clark on the passing of former lab employee, Alberto Lemut.

A Nov. 26 KurzweilAI story featured work on Metal-Organic Frameworks led by the Lab’s Jeff Kortright. R&D.com also covered the research.

A Nov. 26 PV-Tech story on the increase of utility-scale PV projects quoted the Lab’s Mark Bolinger.

A Nov. 25 KGO-TV Channel 7 story featured the Lab’s indoor air research and included Woody Delp and Brett Singer.

A Nov. 24 BusinessWeek story on the benefits of microgrids in Hawaii quoted the Lab’s Chris Marnay.
