Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A Sept. 12 KQED story highlighted research on permafrost and quoted the Lab’s Margaret Torn.

A Sept. 12 Digital Manufacturing Report story looked at the Lab’s efforts to build a better battery using NERSC.

A Sept. 12 story covered work by the Lab’s Sylvain Costes and Jonathan Tang on the risks of radiation on young girls.

A Sept. 12 Time Beacon Record story on making nuclear plants safer quoted the Lab’s Robert Budnitz.

A Sept. 9 GCN story on searching large data sets quoted the Lab’s Gunther Weber.

The last issue of Concrete Products magazine included a story on work done by Marie Jackson at the ALS showing the durability of ancient Roman concrete. The issue included a sidebar story on the ALS as well.

The Sept. 23 issue of Forbes magazine includes a story on algorithmic market trading and quotes the Lab’s David Leinweber.

A Sept. 9 Technology Review story highlighted work on a “smarter window” led by the Lab’s Delia Milliron. The Star Gazette and South Africa’s Independent also covered her work.

A Sept. 9 GreenTechMedia story on the costs of solar vs. wind energy noted work led by the Lab’s Ryan Wiser.
