Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of March 17, 2013

Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A March 22 front-page San Jose Mercury News story highlighted the Lab’s involvement with the recent Planck satellite findings and quoted the Lab’s Julian Borrill. That story, and others like it, also ran in the Contra Costa Times, Sacramento Bee, Sky & Telescope, Universe Today (which also ran a separate story featuring NERSC), Daily Galaxy, and more than a dozen other news outlets.

A March 21 R&D story featured new work on metamaterials led by the Lab’s Xiang Zhang.

A March 18 New Scientist story on the future of accelerators noted the Lab’s BELLA tabletop version.

A March 18 India West story on new inductees into the National Academy of Engineering included the Lab’s Ashok Gadgil.

A March 15 Live Science story on light emitted from coral quoted the Lab’s Melissa Roth.

A recent HPC Wire story looked at cloud modeling by the Lab’s David Romps.
