A Nov. 30 San Francisco Business Times story covered the announcement that Berkeley Lab will partner in a new battery and energy storage hub. KCBS-AM and KQED-FM interviewed the Lab’s Venkat Srinivasan, while the Chicago Tribune, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Detroit News, and several other outlets also covered the announcement.


A Nov. 29 Laser Focus World magazine story on research into light interacting with matter quoted the Lab’s Thornton Glover.

On Nov. 28, the San Jose Mercury News ran an opinion piece by the Lab’s Venkat Srinivasan, who wrote about the need for a new battery economy.

A Nov. 27 UPI News story featured a new report of falling solar prices led by the Lab’s Galen Barbose and Ryan Wiser. Mother Jones magazine, the Phoenix Business Times, Solar Industry Magazine, R&D Magazine, and several others also covered the report.

The Nov. 21 San Francisco Chronicle included an obituary for the Lab’s Stuart Freedman. The Daily Cal and Photonics ran similar stories.

A Nov. 20 Washington Post story on the possible use of nanoparticles to create steam quoted Lab Director Paul Alivisatos.

A Nov. 20 SuperComputingOnline story noted the signing of an MOU between Berkeley Lab and Singapore to collaborate on testing advanced building technologies. AzoBuild.com and Utility Products also covered the announcement. Stories quoted the Lab’s Ashok Gadgil and Reshma Singh.

A preview of the Lab’s new FLEXLAB facility was covered by Energy Manager Today and Green Economy news.

The December issue of Portland Monthly includes a story on efforts at Oregon Health & Science University, with the help of Berkeley Lab, to install electron microscopes in the fight against cancer.

A Nov. 16 Daily Cal story noted a recent sighting of a mountain lion at the Lab. Berkeleyside also covered the news.

A Nov. 14 MSNBC story featured new results from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey that looked at dark energy more than 10 billion years old. The story quoted the Lab’s David Schlegel and similar stories appeared in Science360, Symmetry magazine, Astronomy Now, Scientific American, Daily Galaxy, RedOrbit, and dozens of other outlets worldwide.

A meeting of DOE Lab representatives at the Univ. of Mississippi included Berkeley Lab’s Horst Simon. The meeting received video and news coverage in the state.

The announcement of the world’s fastest computer, ranked with the help of the Lab’s Horst Simon and Erich Strohmaier, received significant amounts of news coverage including in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Wired, AFP news, Reuters, and many others.

A Nov. 12 Berkeleyside.com story covered a small fire at the Lab’s Potter Street facility.
