A July 27 Oakland Tribune story covered a community meeting in Richmond to discuss ideas for the proposed Richmond Bay Campus.

A July 26 US News & World Report story featured work led by the Lab’s Brett Singer and William Delp showing how the use of exhaust fans can reduce indoor air pollution.

A July 26 Electronics.com story focused on work by the Lab’s Alex Zettl and Feng Wang showing how any semiconductor material can be used to create solar cells. 

A July 25 KTVU-TV Channel 2 story on the summer heat wave included an interview with the Lab’s Michael Wehner.

A July 25 Grand Junction Sentinel story looked at research led by the Lab’s Ken Williams, who is doing work on uranium cleanup in Rifle, Colorado.

Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of July 15, 2012

The latest issue of Science magazine includes a story on the Berkeley Lab-led Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota and quotes the Lab’s Kevin Lesko

A July 18 Science2.0 story on methane levels and California regulations quoted the Lab’s Marc Fischer.

A July 16 Symmetry magazine story covered a recent congressional hearing, which showed bipartisan support for DOE user facilities such as the Advanced Light Source.

A July 15 Daily Cal story highlighted the Solar Energy Research Center to be built at the Lab and quoted the Lab’s Heinz Frei. A July 17 Berkeleyside story on the Helios building also mentioned the SERC project.

A recent Patch.com story featured Berkeley scientists’ role in the efforts to discover the Higgs boson.

Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of July 8, 2012

A July 12 AZoNano.com story featured work on a metamolecule with unique properties as led by the Lab’s Xiang Zhang.

A July 11 San Francisco Chronicle story profiled the Lab’s Paul Williams and his work on runners’ health.

Numerous news outlets covered two studies that reviewed research by Felisa Wolfe-Simon before she arrived at the Lab that looked at the role of arsenic in bacteria. Stories mentioning her, or her Lab colleague John Tainer, appeared in the Associated Press, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Wall Street Journal, CBS News, ABC News, BBC News, Popular Science, National Geographic, Discover magazine and many more.

News this week of the possible discovery of the Higgs boson led to numerous news stories quoting Berkeley Lab experts, including a front-page story in the San Francisco Chronicle, stories and live appearances on KQED-FM, KTVU-TV Channel 2 and KPIX-TV Channel 5, AFP news service, San Jose Mercury News and others. Those quoted included the Lab’s Natalie Roe, Ian Hinchliffe and Beate Heinemann.

A July 5 San Francisco Business Times story noted the appointment of the Lab’s new Chief Operating Officer, Glenn Kubiak.

A July 5 San Francisco Chronicle story on the Human Microbiome Project quoted the Lab’s Janet Jansson.

A Jul 2 Daily Cal story featured Lab winners of this year’s R&D100 Awards.

A July 2 EE News/ClimateWire story highlighted work led by the Lab’s Igor Grigoriev showing how fungi may have influenced the planet’s coal formation. The French Tribune ran a similar story.

A July 1 story in The Scientist looked at recent work in synthetic biology and quoted the Lab’s Nathan Hillson.
