Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of May 27, 2012


Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A May 31 Forbes story on short-lived climate pollutants quoted the Lab’s Marc Fisher. Fischer was also quoted in a May 25 KQED.com Climate Watch story on the importance of greenhouse gases other than CO2.

On May 30, the Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota opened up its facility. Berkeley Lab project leader Kevin Lesko was quoted in various news stories as covered by the Associated Press, Fox News, BBC News, Symmetry Magazine, and numerous other news outlets.

A May 29 Scientific American story noted the establishment of CalCharge, a new battery coalition co-led by Berkeley Lab. Project leaders Venkat Srinivasan and Doug Davenport were quoted, along with Lab Director Paul Alivisatos, in stories including the San Francisco Business Times, AOL Energy, GigaOm.com, KQED.com, SmartPlanet and CleanTechnica, among others.

A May 29 CNN Money story on China’s need for oil quoted the Lab’s David Fridley.
