The UC Board of Regents voted Wednesday to modify Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's security procedures for increased access to classified information under the lab's contract with the federal Department of Energy, in order to comply with changes to the Federal Acquisition Regulation System. The lab will alter the security clearance of the laboratory director and other staff members, allowing these employees to receive information and attend classified meetings at other federally-contracted facilities, though Berkeley Lab will not be changing clearance methods on their own sites.
