Berkeley Lab buys IBM server for cloud project

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory bought a high-end IBM server for its Magellan cloud computing project. The lab used stimulus money to buy the IBM iDataPlex dx360 M2 server, which International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) says is one of the “most energy efficient computers in the world.” Berkeley lab, on the hill above the University of California, Berkeley, campus, is testing cloud computing as a way for Department of Energy researchers to allocate computer processing power more efficiently.
